Suarez pens Liverpool goodbye letter

Football Express News understands that Luis Suarez has penned an open letter to the players, coaches and fans of Liverpool, prompting his departure to La Liga giants Barcelona.

June was a month of ups and downs for Luis Suarez, the Uruguayan striker scored a superb brace against England in the group stage of the World Cup, but followed it up by a controversial bite on Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini.

The aftermath has seen the Uruguayan striker banned from footballing activity for four months, but that has not stopped Barcelona from cementing their interest in signing the striker.

And, with a reported £63m deal having been agreed between both clubs last week, following meetings in London – the former Ajax man is now preparing to say goodbye to Liverpool.

Suarez has penned a letter to players, coaches and fans of the Premier League club and will issue such once his move to the Catalan side has been officially announced.

“It is with a heavy heart that I leave Liverpool for a new life and new challenges in Spain, both me and my family have fallen in love with this club and with the city.

“But most of all I have fallen in love with the incredible fans. You have always supported me and we, as a family, will never forget it, we will always be Liverpool supporters.”

Suarez joined Liverpool in 2010 and has scored an impressive 82 goals in 133 games but his time with the club has been surrounded by controversial moments – including a racist remark to Manchester United’s Patrice Evra and a similar biting incident on Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic.
