Huntelaar

FC Schalke forward Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is the latest player reported to be on the radar of Premier League runners-up Liverpool, but the player has refused to comment on speculation of a move to Anfield.

Huntelaar, who is currently away in Brazil preparing for the Netherlands’ World Cup quarter fixture against Costa Rica tomorrow, told Dutch press he would have to speak with his club Schalke on his return from international duties before he can enter into any discussions about the proposed transfer to Liverpool.

He told De Telegraaf: “Regarding the rumours about Liverpool it would only be fair to speak to Schalke first.

“I’ve talked with Schalke about an extension for a while. After the World Cup I am having a holiday. Then I will speak to them again.

“With my agent, I now do not talk about the interest from clubs. I focus on the tournament.”

The 30-year-old, who is nicknamed “The Hunter,” scored fourteen goals for the Bundesliga club in 21 appearances last season.

He is said to have also sparked interest from Arsenal after dazzling them with his World Cup performance against Mexico last week. The Dutchman scored the winning goal for the Netherlands in extra time.
