Germany midfielder set for Real Madrid exit

Khedira

Fiorentina are preparing a move for Real Madrid contract rebel Sami Khedira, according to fresh reports in the Italian media.

La Nazione claims the Viola are ready to capitalise on the Germany international’s refusal to extend his stay in Spain, and a bid could be put on the table in the coming days.

He has less than a year remaining on his current contract at the Bernabeu, with no sign of a resolution in sight.

The report reveals Real president Florentino Perez is open to the idea of parting company with Khedira on the condition that his suitors meet the La Liga giants’ valuation of the player.

Fiorentina are keen to pull off a marquee signing before the 2014-15 season gets under way, as they want to hand supporters a boost in a similar fashion to the arrival of striker Mario Gomez 12 months ago.

They finished last term in fourth position in the Serie A table and believe the acquisition of a player with Khedira’s pedigree gives them a chance to push on and challenge for a top-three spot.

The 27-year-old made only 18 appearances for Carlo Ancelotti’s side in the 2013-14 campaign as he competed for a starting place with a host of star-studded internationals.
