Hazard set for Bundesliga move

Thorgan-Hazard

Chelsea on-loan midfielder Thorgan Hazard is set for a season-long spell playing for German side Borussia Monchengladbach.

The Bundesliga club is reported to have exchanged contracts with Chelsea which finalise the deal for the 21-year-old, however he is yet to sign.

Monchengladbach’s sporting director Max Eberl revealed the club’s plans for Hazard yesterday when he told Rheinischen Post:  “We have exchanged contracts with Chelsea and we have agreed with Thorgan, we have all agreed and now just need to sign the contracts.”

Hazard spent two seasons on loan with Belgian Pro League side Zulte Waregem and won the prestigious Belgian Golden Boot award earlier this year – a massive honour which saw him hailed as the best player in the Belgian Pro League for the 2013/2014 season.

He is the younger brother of Chelsea winger Eden Hazard, and despite having impressed management at parent club Chelsea with improvement of form and performances, they see the youngster as requiring another season on loan gaining first team experience elsewhere before they consider him for a permanent move to west London.

Mochengladbach finished their German league campaign in sixth position and will look to improve their standing next year with the addition of the talented Belgian playmaker.
