Serie A rivals eye United star

Nani

AC Milan are leading the race to snap up Manchester United winger Nani, according to fresh reports in the Italian media.

TuttoSport claims the San Siro giants are ready to renew their interest in the Portugal international, having failed to land him during the January transfer window.

The report reveals that their Serie A rivals Juventus, who successfully defended their domestic title last term, could also enter the race, having monitored his progress in England for more than a year.

However, at this stage Milan are Nani’s most enthusiastic suitors, not least because vice-president Adriano Galliani believes the 27-year-old is exactly the kind of player to suit the style of new head
coach Filippo Inzaghi.

His flair play from wide positions is said to be in line with Inzaghi’s vision as he embarks on an overhaul of an underachieving squad.

Milan finished the 2013-14 campaign in eighth place in the table, and without a piece of silverware.

Nani once again endured an injury-hit and inconsistent season at Old Trafford and could be tempted by a new challenge overseas, despite having four years left on his contract.

He made only 13 appearances for the Red Devils last term.
