Chairman’s son reveals West Ham transfer talks

Allardyce

The son of West Ham United co-chairman David Sullivan has revealed that a new signing is almost certain to be made in the next 24 hours.

Jack Sullivan has revealed that the Hammers are in advanced talks over the purchase of a new left-back and described the deal as “95% done”.

Boss Sam Allardyce is in the process of reshaping his squad after an inconsistent 2013-14 campaign which saw them flirt with relegation from the Premier League yet reach the semi-finals of the League Cup.

They boasted a hugely-impressive defensive record but struggled in front of goal, prompting the end-of-season appointment of their former striker, Teddy Sheringham, as an attacking coach.

Sullivan took to social media site Twitter to inform his followers that they can expect a new addition to the team imminently.

He said: “We hope to sign a left-back within the next 24 hours, the deal is 95% done.”

It is unlikely to be the final piece of business conducted by West Ham during the summer transfer window.

They are looking to appease fans who turned on Allardyce on several occasions last term – even booing him in the wake of a 2-1 victory over Hull City.

On that occasion the supporters took exception to what they perceived to be a negative performance against a side reduced to 10 men.
