Bayern Munich have made enquiries about signing Liverpool winger Rio Ngumoha, with the 17-year-old attracting serious interest from the German giants.

The Bundesliga club have reached out regarding a potential transfer, though sources have confirmed that no face-to-face discussions between the two clubs have yet taken place.

Ngumoha is currently in Florida as a supplementary member of the England squad’s preparation camp and is understood to be aware of the interest from Germany.

Despite Bayern’s approach, no agreement over personal terms has been struck between the player’s camp and the German club at this stage.

Liverpool’s position remains firm, with sources close to the club insisting that Ngumoha is not available for transfer under any circumstances.

The Reds view the teenager as an important member of the first team and are actively looking to strengthen the very position he plays in.

Liverpool have a major interest in RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, whose potential arrival could actually limit Ngumoha’s opportunities for regular first-team football next season.

That situation adds an element of uncertainty to Ngumoha’s future at Anfield, even as the club publicly maintains he is not for sale.

Ngumoha made his Liverpool debut in January 2025 under then-manager Arne Slot, starting a 4-0 FA Cup victory over Accrington at just 16 years and 135 days old.

That appearance made him the youngest player to ever start a match for Liverpool Football Club, a remarkable achievement for such a young talent.

Slot, who was sacked last week, handed Ngumoha his Premier League debut in August, a match that produced a stunning 3-2 win over Newcastle United at St James’ Park.

The winger scored two goals in that game, including a late winner, and registered one assist across the 2025-26 campaign in total.

Ngumoha left Chelsea’s academy in September 2024 to join Liverpool and signed his first professional contract with the club a year later, signalling his long-term commitment.

A tribunal ruled in February 2026 that Liverpool must pay Chelsea at least £2.8m for the winger, with additional add-ons potentially increasing that figure depending on certain conditions.

Chelsea are also owed 20% of any profit Liverpool make if the club eventually decide to sell Ngumoha, giving the Blues a continued financial stake in his future.
