Manchester City striker Alvaro Negredo has informed Atletico Madrid that he wants to join them this summer, according to Spanish daily AS.

The former Sevilla striker has been linked with a summer move from Man City, just one year after joining the English champions.

Negotiations between City and a number of European clubs are said to have taken place with the likes of Inter Milan, Juventus and a number of Russian clubs having made enquiries.

But, it is understood that Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone is keen to bring the Spanish striker back to his homeland and make him the number one replacement for Diego Costa, who is joining Chelsea in the coming weeks.

And, AS report that Negredo is desperate to make the move and that Jesus Navas, who followed the striker to Man City is also considering a summer move back to Spain.

The report adds that City are demanding around £30m for the striker but Atletico are keen to negotiate a better price and one close to the £20m mark.
