Juventus officials arrive for Evra talks

Evra

Juventus have stepped up their attempts to lure Manchester United defender Patrice Evra to Serie A, according to fresh reports in the Italian media.

TuttoSport claims representatives of the Turin giants have travelled to England to enter into a dialogue about a deal with their Red Devils counterparts.

The report also reveals that Italian champions Juve are undeterred by the fact that the France international put pen to paper on a one-year contract extension a matter of weeks ago.

They believe they have a strong chance of successfully securing his services during the summer transfer window, as head coach Antonio Conte looks to build on the last term’s title glory.

He is determined to bolster his squad in a bid to launch an all-out assault on the Champions League in the 2014-15 campaign.

Evra, like many of his colleagues, suffered from inconsistency last season as United slumped to seventh position in the Premier League table and failed to pick up any silverware.

He now faces fierce competition for a first-team spot from £27million signing Luke Shaw, who arrived from Southampton last week.

Shaw has established himself at international level for England and is clearly viewed as the long-term option at left-back.
