Liverpool approach ‘Super Mario’

MARIO BALOTELLI

According to Mundo Deportivo, Liverpool have made initial moves to sign Mario Balotelli as a replacement for Barcelona bound Luis Suarez.

The Merseyside club are currently in talks with Barcelona in London about a move that will see Uruguayan striker Suarez move to the Camp Nou this summer, with talks set to resume on Thursday.

A deal is expected to be announced as early as next week after reaching an advanced stage on Wednesday evening, leaving Reds boss Brendan Rodgers with the need to sign a new striker and one that will have the same impact as Suarez.

And, Catalan daily Mundo Deportivo claim that during talks over Suarez, Barcelona officials have leaked that Liverpool are in talks with Mario Balotelli over a summer move.

The controversial Italian striker wants to leave AC Milan after struggling with on and off field problems last season and it is expected that he will return to the Premier League.

Arsenal are reportedly the front runners but their pursuit of Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema and QPR’s Loic Remy has seen Liverpool gain a front foot.
