Former Barcelona assistant Henk Ten Cate has discussed the Catalan club’s interest in Liverpool striker Luis Suarez.

Barcelona officials are said to have flown into Liverpool on Tuesday to discuss a bid of £50.2m, which they feel is adequate after Suarez’s recent incidents involving a biting incident for the Uruguayan national side.

The Liverpool striker was banned for nine international games and four months from footballing activity after biting the shoulder of Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini, but despite the incident – Barcelona remain keen on making the summer move.

And former coach Henk Ten Cate has discussed the proposed transfer, saying that the La Liga giants have the men to work with Suarez and improve his behaviour.

“Suarez needs help in that regard, he has a problem,” ten Cate told La Xarxa.

“He has a family and needs to learn that thing you can’t do. He must handle his emotions. Barcelona have someone who can help.

“A psychologist named Imma Puig, who worked for us when we were there with Frank Rijkaard. She can help him control his emotions. I’m not saying he has to go with it but she could help, in my opinion.”
