Premier League clubs would have been listening on as Barcelona sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta gave the clearest indication yet regarding the futures of Alexis Sanchez and Pedro Rodriguez.

Both wingers have been linked with a move away from the Catalan club this summer as new boss Luis Enrique made plans to make changes to the Barca side.

Spanish international Pedro was in hot and cold form last season, helping along with Sanchez when Lionel Messi was out injured but his time at the club has since been quesionned with the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool both showing interest.

Manchester City and Paris Saint Germain were also credited with summer interest but Zubizarreta put an end to such talk when he replied to reporters over Pedro’s future in a rather abrupt manner.

“Pedro can’t be transferred,” he was simply quoted as saying in Mundo Deportivo.

Meanwhile, Alexis, who was in superb form for his country at the 2014 World Cup before their exit to the host nation Brazil earlier this week has also been linked with a move, with similar sides showing interest.

The Chilean winger was in superb form last season for Barca but the Catalan club are keen to reap the rewards of a high transfer fee and Zubizarreta did not reply with the same abruptness when asked about the former Udinese winger.

“I don’t know [if Alexis will stay with us]. He is extraordinary and has shown his level at the World Cup, where he was one of the best.”
