English club told firm NO in Suarez chase

Luis Suarez

Football Express News understands that Liverpool have told Manchester City that they will only sell the striker to non-English clubs.

The future of Luis Suarez at Liverpool is currently under heavy speculation following his recent four month ban from football’s governing body FIFA after he bit the shoulder of Giorgio Chiellini during the World Cup in Brazil.

Catalan side Barcelona are said to be extremely interested and reports of a £50.2m bid being made late on Tuesday night have developed heavily on Wednesday.

Barca seem favourites to capture the Uruguayan striker, with his wife’s family already living close to the Camp Nou.

However, it is understood that bids made by English club Manchester City in recent days have also seen Liverpool busy in regard to Suarez’s future.

Barcelona can breathe easy though as Football Express News understands that the Anfield club have told City that no English club will be able to sign the former Ajax man, with Liverpool rejecting City’s early bid.

Suarez was banned for nine international games and four months from any footballing activity for his actions during the World Cup but it is expected to be reduced after an apology he made to Chiellini via social media platform Twitter on Monday.
