Chelsea are leading the race to sign Stoke City keeper Asmir Begovic, according to Sky Sports.

The Bosnian international keeper is 27-years-old, and has one year left on his current contract at Stoke where he has been first choice goalkeeper since 2010 making 160 appearances and one goal.

The player is believed to be interested in the move, however has some concerns over being a second choice keeper to Thibaut Courtois.

Chelsea have offered a lucrative salary and have been keen to point out that Cech made 16 appearances last season, and want Begovic to play a similar amount.

Aston Villa are also interested with current number one Brad Guzan keen to leave the club this summer and find regular football after losing his place to veteran stopper Shay Given last season.

Stoke have valued Begovic at £8m with some reports claiming that they would want a Chelsea or Villa player included in any such deal.
