Manchester United have captured Morgan Schneiderlin in a £25m deal with the Southampton midfielder set to join the club on Wednesday.

A number of Premier League sides have been labelled with interest in Southampton’s impressive French midfielder since the season ended, with Arsenal and Man United at the forefront of interested clubs.

Saints boss Ronald Koeman is somewhat resigned to losing his defensive midfielder, despite offering him a new deal in recent months.

His sale is firmly expected with Koeman keen to look for a suitable replacement in the coming weeks and that movement has now been heightened after Louis van Gaal’s United had a £25m bid accepted.

The Frenchman has been keen on a move to Arsenal in recent times, but Gunners boss Arsene Wenger was unwilling to pay over £20m for the midfielder, leaving United seemingly free to discuss contract terms from this point on.

And, it is understood that a four-year deal has now been agreed with an announcementdue to be made next week.

Schneiderlin will become the second signing of United’s summer, following Dutchman Memphis Depay to Old Trafford.
