Swansea city are close to wrapping up a £5m deal for Portuguese international Eder from Sporting Braga.

Which would be Garry Monk’s fourth summer signing, after Andre Ayew, Franck Tabanou and Kristoffer Nordfeldt, in order to improve from last season’s position in an attempt to push for the Europa League spots.

The 27 year old striker scored ten goals last season, and will bolster the attacking options for Swansea, which is much needed after Nelson Olivieria finished his loan, the potential sale of former fans favourite Michu and the completed sale of Wilfried Bony to Manchester City last January.

Having played 18 times for Portugal, much will be expected of him, and the Liberty Stadium faithful will be hoping to see a better striker than previous buys, such as Alvaro Vasquez, Itay Shechter and the aforementioned Oliviera who did not set the world alight.

Having only played in the Portuguese league, it may also take time for Eder to adapt to the Premier League – seen as the best league in the world – , but then again, what bigger place for the African-born striker to make his mark and push for a starting position for his national side ahead of Euro 2016.

Whether or not he signs is a different matter, but certainly, there is a feeling that Swansea need another striker, and the names of Troy Deeney and Jota have also been touted as potential signings.
