Swansea City are plotting a move for Atalanta’s Luca Cigarini, according to the Mirror.
Reports last month claimed that newly promoted Premier League side Watford had made a move for the former Italy Under 21 international.
But, it is now being reported that Swansea City have emerged as favourites to sign the midfielder, likened to Andrea Pirlo.
Cigarini made over 30 appearances for Atalanta last season and highly impressed, gaining plaudits from a number of Italian pundits and Serie A clubs, with Juventus understood to be keen.
After helping his side avoid relegation to Serie B, Cigarini is now expected to leave the club after heightened interest.
Bundesliga sides Wolfsburg and Bayer Leverkusen, as well as Serie A sides Torino an Sampdoria area also interested in the player.
The 28-year-old has been said to have a £7m price tag, as his current contract runs out in June 2018.
