Wenger’s £24m midfielder bid gets green light

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been given the go ahead to make a summer move for Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira.

The German midfielder missed a large part of Real Madrid’s season through injury and the overall thought in the Spanish capital is that he no longer has a place in the starting eleven under Carlo Ancelotti, seeing the likes of Luka Modric and Angel Di Maria perform well.

Links to Premier League duo Chelsea and Manchester United have been reported but have since softened in recent weeks and it is understood that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is ready to pounce.

Wenger has been enjoying a last minute break before he returns to pre-season training recently but he has been speaking to the board, who have given the go ahead to make a £24m bid for the former Stuttgart midfielder.

Khedira is thought to be interested in making the move and it is understood that the German international is willing to take a pay-cut in order to do so.

Should he move to the Emirates stadium, he would join the likes of international team-mates – Per Mertesacker, Lukas Podolski and Mesut Ozil.
