Wolfsburg are set to offer Kevin De Bruyne a new deal worth £100,000-a-week to fend off interest from Manchester City, according to Daily Mirror.
The former Chelsea midfielder has become one of the most wanted players in European football after a sublime season with the Bundesliga giants last campaign.
De Bruyne, who left Chelsea last summer after making just nine appearances for the Stamford Bridge side has been strongly linked with a move back to England with Manchester City heavily keen to sign the tricky play-maker and bolster their attacking options.
Discussions over a new and improved contract with the Bundesliga side have now been put on hold, leaving the chances of a summer move seem highly unlikely and that is now looking increasingly beyond doubt after the Wolfsburg officials offered a £100,000-per-week contract.
City remain keen they can lure the Belgian to the club and are planning to trump that offer with a £125,000-per-week deal but De Bruyne’s doubts over English football are said to be on the German club’s side.
