Porto and Colombia striker Jackson Martinez has issued a come and get me plea to Arsenal, saying he would love to play for the Premier League side.

Martinez has been strongly linked with a move to England this summer with the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur reportedly interested, whilst Arsenal have maintained a quiet interest in the busty striker.

And, following his recent comments made whilst on international duty in Brazil – the Gunners will now feel enthused that they could by front runners to make a summer move.

The 27-year-old arrived in Europe back in 2012 and has cemented his place as one of European football’s most deadly strikers, scoring 60 goals in 91 games for Portuguese side Porto.

“I know that there have been discussions, but still no agreements,” Martinez told reporters. “My agent is taking care of my future, right now I’m at the World Cup and only after the World Cup I’ll evaluate proposals.

“As a child I cheered for Arsenal, they play a game that suits me. If I had the occasion to play there, I would say yes.”

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will take the comments in good mood, but it is understood that the French boss wants to look at the possibility of signing French duo Karim Benzema and Loic Remy first.
