Inter battle rivals for Spurs star

Sandro

Inter Milan have joined Serie A rivals Napoli in the race to sign Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Sandro, according to fresh reports in the Italian media.

Tutto Mercato Web claims the two clubs are ready to battle it out for the Brazil international, whose future at White Hart Lane is unclear following the arrival of Mauricio Pochettino as head coach.

The reports also reveals that if Napoli and Inter both fail to land the 25-year-old, they are likely to embark on a second transfer tussle for Real Madrid star Casemiro, who has long been coveted by the San Siro giants.

News of Napoli’s pursuit of Sandro was broken by TuttoSport earlier in the week, with the Italian Cup holders putting together an offer thought to be in the region of £13million.

Boss Rafael Benitez, formerly of Liverpool and Chelsea, is determined to bolster his engine room during the summer transfer window and has identified the Spurs man, and Rubin Kazan’s Yann M’Vila, as the men to do just that.

Sandro, who has two years left on his contract at Tottenham, endured a difficult 2013-14 campaign which, on a number of occasions, saw him either injured or restricted to substitute appearances under former head coaches Andre Villas-Boas and Tim Sherwood.
