Liverpool have completed the signing of Joe Gomez from Charlton Athletic.
The young defender emerged as one of the hottest defenders in English football last season after some impressive performances for Charlton.
The 17-year-old has represented England at U16, U17 and most recently at U19 level and has attracted clubs such as Manchester United and Arsenal.
A very versatile centre-back, Gomez has had comparisons with Rio Ferdinand for his passing range and tough tackling but can also feature at right back.
The deal will cost Liverpool £3.5m with the defender signing a five-year contract at Anfield.
