Swansea City join race for Spurs winger Townsend

Swansea City have joined Aston Villa with interest in Tottenham Hotspur winger Andros Townsend.

Villa boss Tim Sherwood is keen to reignite himself with the England international at Villa Park and is ready to submit an offer.

Townsend has openly admitted this season that his time at White Hart Lane is not secure, leading to interest from a number of Premier League clubs, such as Villa and Everton.

And, now Swansea, who are keen to explore the possibility of making a summer move.

Townsend has started the last five successive Tottenham games, but he is keen to explore a guarantee of more minutes after being subbed off at around the hour-mark in the majority of his starts at White Hart Lane.

The 23-year-old began his career with Spurs, having joined them as a youngster in 2000.

He was loaned out to an incredible nine clubs before establishing himself as a regular first team player at the club.
