Manchester United preparing imminent double raid on Lazio

Manchester United are preparing bids for Lazio pair Stefan De Vrij and Felipe Anderson in a double raid on the Serie A club, according to the Express.

Holland international De Vrij and Anderson, a talented Brazilian midfielder, are both thought to be on the radar of United boss Louis van Gaal and reports in Italy indicate the Red Devils are ready to submit official bids for the two players.

Both have enjoyed impressive seasons at the Stadio Olimpico, playing integral roles as Lazio finished third in Serie A behind Juventus and Roma to qualify for the Champions League.

De Vrij will be no stranger to Van Gaal having worked with the 23-year-old defender during his time as head coach of the Dutch national team and will bring fresh competition to the Old Trafford defensive ranks.

Anderson, meanwhile, scored ten goals and assisted seven more in 27 appearances for the Rome club last term, with the 22-year-old earning his first cap for Brazil on 7 June and receiving a call-up to Dunga’s squad for the Copa America in Chile.

Lazio are likely to demand a substantial fee for two of their prized assets, but it’s understood Van Gaal will instruct the United hierarchy to prioritise capturing their signatures.
