Clyne desperate to join Liverpool after rejected Man United

Southampton right-back Nathaniel Clyne is desperate to join Liverpool, according to reports.

Manchester United have been linked with a summer deal for Clyne, forcing current club Southampton to desperately offer a new contract to the England full-back.

Speculation over a move to Old Trafford grew last month when Daily Mirror reporter David McDonnell claimed a deal worth £17m had been agreed between the two Premier League clubs.

But it is understood that such a deal is now OFF after United informed their Premier League rivals that they were no longer interested, leaving Liverpool as the lead club to sign the England international.

And, according to various reports on Thursday morning, Clyne is desperate to link up with former team-mates Dejan Lovren and Adam Lallana at Anfield this summer.

Clyne, who is now firmly established as an England regular will also join the likes of Jordan Henderson and Daniel Sturridge on Merseyside.
