Manchester City have agreed a deal to sign highly-rated youngster Patrick Roberts from Fulham in an £8m deal, according to Daily Mirror.

The 18-year-old talent is entering his final year at Craven Cottage and has recently turned down the chance to begin talks over a contract extension.

Having made his Premier League debut against Manchester City in 2014, Roberts has since gone on to impress for the Championship side, gaining interest from a number of top flight English sides, including Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United.

However, it is reported that City are leading the race to sign the talented England U19 international.

A bid of £8m is said to have been agreed by both clubs, leaving contract talks between City and Roberts free to discuss.

Whilst, City boss Manuel Pellegrini is keen to rebuild his senior side for next season, his proposed plans for Roberts are not yet known.

Conflicting reports in the Daily Express about the £8m bid being rejected are growing over the past few hours, but it is understood that City officials are confident the deal will go ahead.
