Nigerian striker set for Chelsea move

Fenerbahce star Emmanuel Emenike could be Chelsea’s next summer acquisition following reports that the Turkish club have offered the Nigerian World Cup striker to the west Londoners for £15M.

The 27-year-old forward is said to have sparked the interest of Chelsea with his solid displays of form over the early group stage of Nigeria’s international campaign in Brazil last month.

It was reported last week that the Blues had expressed their interest in Emenike, and that he could be the second player to sign for Chelsea this summer following the arrival of Spanish playmaker Cesc Fabregas a fortnight ago.

Cameroonian veteran Samuel Eto’o is headed for the exit on expiry of his contract and the futures of Fernando Torres, Demba Ba and on-loan striker Romelu Lukaku still yet to be determined.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is focussing on his Champions League win-campaign next season and looking to field his strongest front-line.

Emenike could be the solution to Mourinho’s striker problems, along with the Portuguese man’s top target, Atletico Madrid ace Diego Costa, who is said to be on the verge of completing his highly anticipated £32M move from the La Liga champions to west London.
