Thibaut Courtois could be on his way out of Stamford Bridge this summer in a shock move back to Spain.
All the news this summer has been about David De Gea’s reported move to Real Madrid but in a shocking turn of events, could Thibaut Courtois be about to take the number one jersey at the Bernabeu?
The Independent are suggesting it could happen. Courtois wants to return to Spain one day and has dreams of being Real Madrid’s goalkeeper. However, with all the speculation surrounding De Gea’s move, Courtois has reportedly realised this could mean his dream may never become reality.
De Gea, if he makes the move, would be seen as Madrid’s long-term goalkeeper, with his best years ahead of him. Courtois, if he does not make the move now, risks missing his chance.
While this may seem unbelievable, Chelsea are clearly not taking it lighlty as they have publicly slapped a £73million price tag on the Belgian giant in an attempt to extinguish any interest from Real Madrid before any negotiations even begin.
Surely this will be enough to ward off Madrid as De Gea is reportedly available for under half of that figure with only a year remaining of his current deal, whereas Courtois has only recently signed a lucrative deal keeping him at Chelsea for the next 5 years.
