Napoli have rejected an £11m bid for left-back Faouzi Ghoulam rejected. The 24-year old made 21 Serie A appearances last term and impressed; winning 33 tackles, and creating 24 chances.
Ghoulam made Jose Mourinho’s shortlist as he looks for back-up for first teamer, Cesar Azpilicueta. This comes just a year after Filipe Luis joined from Atletico Madrid, but has yet to make an impact.
However, despite strong interest and a bid from the Blues, Napoli have no intention of letting him go this summer, as he only joined from Saint-Etienne in January 2014.
But, any player would want to move to the Premier League champions, and with a promise of Champions League football, Chelsea have an advantage of gaining his signature over any other interested parties.
The player could yet force a transfer through by requesting a move, but he has yet to comment on any of the transfer speculation.
Ghoulam would certainly fit into the Chelsea ethos, by being solid at the back, but being able to break quickly and be useful when attacking as well.
If he were to arrive, it would further fuel rumours that Filipe Luis is heading for a swift Chelsea exit.
