Manchester City inform Pellegrini of next season’s plans

Manchester City have told Manuel Pellegrini that they do want him as manager next season, according to Daily Telegraph.

The Chilean boss has been under heavy scrutiny recently after guiding City to a trophy-less season which saw them knocked off their Premier League top spot by Chelsea, exit the domestic cups and be knocked out by Barcelona in the Champions League.

Pressure has mounted and a number of potential replacements have been indicated, with Carlo Ancelotti topping that list of managerial candidates.

However, it is now being reported that unsuccessful talks with the Italian boss and other targets has forced City bosses to keep their faith in former Real Madrid boss Pellegrini.

Pellegrini is set to be handed a transfer fund this summer which he is to spend on improving and freshening up the squad, which he deems suitable to push Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea for a title challenge.
