Manchester City are planning an imminent bid for Raheem Sterling, according to Manchester Evening News.

Sterling’s future at the Merseyside club has burdened them for the most part of the season, with the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Arsenal and Manchester City all linked with a cut-price summer move.

The Reds have been keen to agree a new improved and extended deal with the England international but talks have faltered after beginning around the turn of the year.

Man City officials are said to be leading the way with a £40m bid expected to be made, as the former Premier League champions hope to bolster their English presence in their squad.

Sterling is said to be keen on a move outside of England after suffering weeks of negative press about his contract situation at Anfield, although a big money move across the country to City could tempt him.
