Sampdoria have joined Chelsea in the race to sign Ecuadoran striker Enner Valencia, according to Daily Mirror.

Blues boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly keen on the West Ham United striker after watching him closely throughout the most part of last season.

The Portuguese tactician initially dismissed talk that he was looking to add more players to his squad, but the £26.8m move for Cuadrado in January and links to other players like Valencia have seen his words turn around as the summer approaches.

Valencia arrived in England last summer when he joined West Ham and he has impressed, playing a large part in their season, which at one point looked extremely promising, pushing for a place in the European spots.

Chelsea are not the only side keen, however, as Sampdoria from Serie A are also looking at his talents and reports in Italian press claim that officials from the club will be following him closely in the upcoming Copa America.

West Ham have put an asking price of £30m on the forward’s shoulders.
