Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleveley has joined Everton on a free transfer, putting pen to paper on a five-year contract.
The 25 year old midfielder, has been on loan to Aston Villa this season from Manchester United, and played for Villa in the recent FA Cup final, and made 30 appearances and 3 goals for Villa last season.
Think it is fair to say that he has come in for some criticism from fans and the media, and this may well be because of some of the previous players who has played in his position for Manchester United, such as Keane, Scholes and Carrick, so expectations are set at a higher level,United loaned him out four times in total, to Leicester, Watford, Wigan and Aston Villa.
The 13 times capped England international will join the Merseyside club who have central midfielders such as Besic, Gibson,McCarthy and Barry for him to compete with.
Writers View – In my view Cleverley is a decent player, he was and is not a player of the highest level of top premiership/European clubs, but is decent on the ball and has good energy levels. I would imagine he has not cost the earth, so Martinez has picked up a decent signing for a club expecting a much better season as they try to break into top 6.
