Werder Bremen rule out move for Arsenal winger

Bundesliga side Werder Bremen have attempted to end talk of a summer move for Arsenal striker Lukas Podolski.

The German international has struggled for form of late and was sent out on loan by the Gunners to Inter Milan in January.

A permanent move to the San Siro was tipped prior to him moving to Italy, but his failure to impress boss Roberto Mancini has seen that move fail to materialise.

The 30-year-old is now said to be keen on a return to Germany, where the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Bremen have been linked.

However, the latter have now distanced themselves from a potential summer bid.

“Lukas Podolski is a great footballer, I like him,” he told Bild.

“But we do not need to discuss such rumours. It is totally unrealistic for us to make a move for him.”
