Bayern Munich and Chelsea are considering paying the full buyout clause for Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann, according to Marca.

It is believed that the French international is wanted by Jose Mourinho as part of his plans to build a Champions League winning side this summer.

Griezmann has been in superb form this season for Atletico Madrid following his £24m switch from Real Sociedad, scoring over 20 goals in all competitions.

Reports of Mourinho’s interest in the Frenchman surfaced earlier this month, and the Premier League champions were seemingly given the green light to make that move after the Spanish side looked to complete a move for Spurs winger Erik Lamela as his replacement.

However, Bayern Munich have now joined the race to sign the former Real Sociedad attacker and are willing to pay his £47.2m release clause.

Both Chelsea and the German side were hoping Atletico would lower their demands but it seems both Mourinho and Pep Guardiola are ready to do battle and make a solid move.
