Newcastle called Ryan Taylor to tell him his contract at the club would not be renewed, before asking him to pass the phone to Jonas Gutierrez to deliver the same news, according to Daily Mail.

Toon bosses have decided not to renew contracts for Ryan Taylor and Jonas Gutierrez, which you can accept football decisions need to be made, players moved on etc, what is not acceptable is how the two players were told, which a number of newspapers are reporting on.

Both players were in Belfast on a coaching course when Taylor took a phone call off John Carver, the current Newcastle manager, who both players do not blame and class him as a friend.

Taylor was given the news that he would not be needed at the club and then was asked to pass the phone over to Gutierrez to be told the same thing.

Both players were expecting the news, but to have it delivered in this way is staggering, and total lack of respect from the football club and it’s owner Mike Ashley.

Ryan Taylor has been at the club for nine seasons and has gone twice returned from torn cruciate injury in the same knee, whilst Jonas Gutierrez has overcome testicular cancer twice and scored the goal that kept Newcastle in the Premier League last season.

Gutierrez has come out on his personal Twitter page thanking the Newcastle fans but criticising the owners of the football club.
