Manchester United have sounded out Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain over a potential move to Old Trafford, according to Daily Express.

The Argentina international is set to leave Napoli at the end of the season, and a host of top clubs have been reported to be keen on landing his signature.

Serie A giants Juventus have apparently been holding talks with Higuain’s brother about a transition, but now reports suggest that he will look to leave Italian football and make a move to England.

A whole host of clubs have been linked with the former Real Madrid striker, but claims that he has been handed a £42m asking price are said to be causing problems.

The £57,000-a-week ace would cost that mount to sign and it is understood that United officials are seriously considering a lucrative summer move.

United’s failing up front this season have seen the likes of Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao dip in form, with the former set to follow the latter out of Old Trafford this summer.
