According to reports in the Daily Mail, Crystal Palace are lining up a shock move for French international midfielder Yohan Cabaye.

The current Paris Saint Germain midfielder is frustrated at a lack of first team opportunities at the Parisien club and is looking to come back to England, where he starred for Newcastle United.

The 29-year-old, 38 times capped French international, has worked with Alan Pardew previously at Newcastle and is understood to be keen to move from the Ligue 1 champions this summer.

The French club paid £18 million for his services, but are rumoured to be looking for around £10 million after seeing him fail to force his way into the starting eleven past the likes of Marco Verratti and Blaise Matuidi.

The transfer fee and wages will really stretch Crystal Palace, but they maybe able to get some funds from reported sales of Mile Jedinak to West Brom, James McArthur to Norwich and Dwight Gayle to Bournemouth.

Writers View – This would be a major coup for Palace, no offence meant, but with a number of so called bigger clubs on look out for a central midfielder, for them to get a player of Cabaye’s ability would be a big achievement. I would be surprised if they sell Jedinak though, as been a big player for Palace last 2 seasons.
