Liverpool give up on Brazilian keeper Neto

Liverpool have given up on signing Fiorentina goalkeeper Neto, despite having scouted him countless times this season, reports Liverpool Echo.

The 25-year-old Brazilian keeper has been strongly linked with a move to England with Liverpool keen to replace Simon Mignolet, who has been criticised for a whole host of errors this season.

Boss Brendan Rodgers has watched Neto on several occasions this season and was said to be buoyed by the news earlier this year that the keeper will leave the Serie A club when his contract expires at the end of the season.

The Northern Irish boss’s interest did die down a little as he looked at other targets and it is now confirmed that he has ended his interest in the Serie A stopper.

Neto’s deal at Stadio Artemio Franchi is now into its final six months at the Italian club and will be free to potential suitors.

A number of Italian clubs, including Roma have also shown interest.
