Man United submit contract offer for Brazilian ace

Reports from Spain that Manchester United have submitted a bid for Dani Alves, the right back from Barcelona.

Alves, who is a free agent in the summer, has been linked with a number of clubs this season as it became clear he would be moving on.

The 33 year old Brazilian international, who at his best was a rampaging, overlapping full back with high technical ability, seems to be the right back Van Gaal has decided is the answer to a problem position for the club, since the retirement of Gary Neville.

United boss Louis van Gaal wants to strengthen his side this summer ahead of what he hopes will be a title challenging campaign next season.

Having struggled to find a regular right back this season, Van Gaal has turned his attention to Barcelona’s Alves.

Reports claim that the experienced defender, is leaving Barcelona after the Champions League final, as he has failed to agree terms on his contract with the Spanish side and it is reported that the English side have submitted a contract offer.

Manchester United may have to give the Brazilian high wages on a short term deal to fight off competition from Juventus and Paris-Saint Germain.

Writer’s Prediction – HIT. Is certainly not the player he was, but still played well for Barcelona this season, and still a very capable footballer. Will do a good job for United, and is certainly a marked improvement in that position against the likes of Rafael, Jones and Smalling who have played that position last two seasons.
