Various media reports have an imminent transfer for Nicolas Gaitan to Manchester United for a reported transfer of £21 million.
The current Benfica player has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs over recent seasons, however, it would appear United have taken the leap to acquire the players services.
A source close to Old Trafford told FEN the Argentina international is one of the widemen on their radar, and that the Portuguese giants have made it clear he will not be allowed to leave on the cheap.
Spanish side Valencia have also been interested in the past, but United’s resilience to follow the midfielder seems to have now paid off.
Gaitan has been with Benfica for five years, and in that time has made 127 appearances, scoring an impressive 21 goals. He has also represented the Argentine national side on nine occasions.
Writers Prediction – HIT. A player who has been well respected on the European club scene for a while, United fans will like his style of play. Will be interesting to see how United line up next season, as players who would appear joining the club such as Gaitan, with attacking midfield players already there such as Herrera, Fellaini, Di Maria, Januzaj and Mata. If United can get relationships to work and formations, watch out, especially if they get a top class striker this summer.
