Arsenal planning surprise move for Leicester City winger

According to reports in the Express and Metro, Arsenal are lining up a surprise bid for Leicester City player Jeffrey Schlupp.

Schlupp, 22, won Young Player Of The Year and Players Player Of The Year this season for the Premier League side, and played a big part in the Midlands’ club’s successful escape from relegation.

The talented winger has previously had trials at Manchester United and was linked with a move to Liverpool in 2013, with interested clubs keen on his ability to play at left-back, left midfield and in a frontman role.

The Gunners are keen to identify solutions to Theo Walcott, who could be set to leave the club this summer after failing to agree a new contract as yet.

Talks are set to continue after this weekend’s FA Cup final but interest in Schlupp is said be serious, with officials at the North London club having already enquired about his £5m valuation.

Writers Prediction – HIT. Looks a very bright young player, and with the players he will have around him at Arsenal and with Wenger in charge, can see the player flourish, especially with a lower amount of expectations and not a huge transfer fee weighing him down.
