Arsenal are considering a summer move for Espanyol defender Hector Moreno, according to reports in Spain.

The Mexican defender has been in fine form this season and has attracted the attention of a number of top European sides.

Tottenham Hotspur are leading the way with interest from the Premier League after visiting the Barcelona-based side this season to cast an eye over the defender.

Whilst, Spurs are favourites to sign the defender due to Mauricio Pochettino’s links with his former club – Arsenal are also now keen.

The Gunners have also been monitoring his performances of late and are buoyed by his relatively small asking price of around £10m.

Moreno, 27, is said to be keen on a move to the latter and Football Express News has understood that he is happy to begin contract talks.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is desperate to improve his defensive area, after being forced to play left-back Nacho Monreal in a central position this season.
