Football Express News understands that reported interest from Manchester United in Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema is false.

The French striker is expected to be sold on this summer as Madrid president Florentino Perez looks to re-build his side IF they fail to beat Barcelona to the La Liga title and rivals for the Champions League title.

Benzema has a large number of potential suitors with Liverpool said to be heading that list after years of interest.

Whilst, Ligue 1 champions PSG, who are keen to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic this summer, have also shown interest.

One team linked with interest, however – Manchester United, are not linked, despite claims in press that a bid of £40m could be made in the coming weeks.

United boss Louis van Gaal is indeed keen to sign a new front-man but is refusing to pay that amount of money for a goalscorer.

The actual asking price of Benzema is unknown but both Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers and PSG boss Laurent Blanc are willing to do all it takes for one of European football’s most consistent strikers.
