Barcelona wait for Luis Suarez apology

Mundo Deportivo claim that Barcelona are waiting to hear an apology from Luis Suarez for his actions at the World Cup, an apology they think will reduce his ban and give them a clear chance of signing the Liverpool striker.

Suarez was involved in a now world famous incident during Uruguay’s final group game of the World Cup against Italy, which saw him bite the shoulder of Giorgio Chiellini.

Although the Liverpool striker was not sent off, Suarez received a nine match international ban, a fine and a four month ban from all footballing activities.

However, the Catalan side have remained interested in the former Ajax man, with new boss Luis Enrique desperate to link him with Lionel Messi and Neymar next season.

Whilst, some reports have claimed that Barca are ready to submit a bid, it is understood that they are waiting for the striker to apologise for his actions and make an appeal to the Court of Arbitration of Sport.

Barca feel that an apology could reduce Suarez’s ban or at least suspend such, making a move to the Camp Nou possible.

Uruguay failed to reach the quarter-finals of the World Cup and struggled in the round of 16 against fellow South American side Colombia, losing 2-0.
