Napoli have called a press conference for tomorrow has reported Sky Sports tonight.

Italian side Napoli have called a press conference for Wednesday amidst reports that boss Rafa Benitez is set to join Real Madrid on a one year deal.

Carlo Ancelotti’s time at the Santiago Bernabeu is over following a number of setbacks this season.

The Italian boss will always be remembered for bringing the La Liga giants their much anticipated 10th Champions League title, but failures to win La Liga, the Copa del Rey and retain the European title, have prompted a replacement to be discussed.

Borussia Dortmund’s Jurgen Klopp is the number one candidate, whilst Napoli boss Rafael Benitez has also been linked.

And, according to various reports in Spain, the former Liverpool boss is set to begin talks over a deal as soon as the end of this week.

Benitez who started his managerial career at age of 36 with Valladolid, has had a number of successes with Valencia and Liverpool in particular, whilst spells with Inter Milan and Chelsea failed to replicate that success.

His time in Naples has seen him guide the Serie A side to consecutive top three finishes and qualify for the Champions League.

Writers View: Will be interesting to see if the appointment is made is it as an interim role as per his previous Chelsea appointment until a Klopp, Simeone or a Guardiola becomes available. Mind you at Real Madrid seems often to be short term contracts!
