The Guardian are reporting that Nicolas Otamendi has requested from Valencia a transfer to Manchester United and we understand that personal terms have been agreed.

Otamendi is a highly rated tenacious defender, who is an Argentinian international with 19 caps to date, he played in the 2014 World Cup but was dropped after the quarter final, and was criticized for his performance, however in his defence, he was played that day out of position at right back.

Valencia do not want to lose the player, but a bid of around £35 million, has every chance to acquire the player’s services.

United have been keen on the defender for some-time and have made initial contact with the Spanish club.

The 27-year-old joined Valencia from Porto last summer and has been one of the standout centre-backs in La Liga this season, despite his recent World Cup setback.

Valencia sporting director Rufete last week claimed he wanted the defender to remain at the Mestalla but well respected Spanish journalist Guillem Balague said that a deal was close and further reports have now claimed that he wants out of the Spanish side.

“On Otamendi. Sources close to the player say his dream is to go to the PL and United will continue trying to get him. Valencia pessimistic,” Balague tweeted.

And, following his claims, Ole now report that a deal has been agreed between the player and United, pending a transfer fee agreement.

Otamendi is contracted to Valencia until 2019.

Writers View – Miss. For me not entirely convinced on this player the La Liga matches I have seen, he is a tough tenacious South American defender, however, playing centre back at six foot tall in the premiership worries me, and at the rumored price, believe better value elsewhere.
