Aston Villa are considering a summer move for Tottenham Hotspur striker Emmanuel Adebayor, according to ESPN.

The much troubled Togolese frontman has struggled this season at White Hart Lane and is fully expected to leave the North London club.

Having failed to impress coach Mauricio Pochettino, the former Arsenal man is fully aware of his future and has set his sights on remaining in England, having been previously linked with a short term move to Chelsea.

Aston Villa have also emerged as a potential destination, with former Spurs boss Tim Sherwood keen to enquire about his asking price.

Adebayor has one year left on his contract, but has been told he can leave this summer and Villa believe they can spend as little as £2m on the striker.

The striker, who has had various problems with his family back in Africa, recently revealed that he had thought about taking his own life.
