Juventus icon Andrea Pirlo is set to snub moves to the Premier League this summer for a move to MLS with New York City.

Pirlo will see his time at the Turin club come to an end this summer and it is expected that he will move on from Italian football, citing a desire to play on foreign soil.

Links to the Premier League have been made in recent weeks with press in Italy and England claiming that both Chelsea and Liverpool have made enquiries as to his availability.

However, they have both been told that his preference lies in America, where he is keen to join David Villa and Frank Lampard at New York City FC.

Pirlo has played a big part in Juve’s four consecutive Serie A titles and is on the verge of a potential Champions League final success, facing Barcelona next weekend.

In total, Pirlo has massed over 800 senior appearances both at club level and national level, where he has featured for Italy on 113 occasions.
