Could Sterling and Walcott swap places?

Liverpool are understood to be keen on signing Theo Walcott as part of a deal that would see Raheem Sterling join Arsenal, according to reports.

Liverpool have put a £60million price tag on Sterling, even though Rogers has optimistically said he hopes the youngster will see out the remaining two years on his contract.

However, everyone apart from Rogers fully expects Sterling to leave Anfield this summer. Though there are a number of clubs seemingly interested in the young attacker, Arsenal seems to be the player’s preference. He apparently favours London, having spent years there while at the Queen’s Park Rangers academy.

If Sterling went to Arsenal, Liverpool would use the deal to reignite their interest in Theo Walcott. Liverpool may struggle to get anyone to pay £60million for Sterling, especially as he’s made his desire to leave so public, but Liverpool may use Theo Walcott, plus cash, to get close to that figure.

Walcott has recently returned to full fitness and has taken no time to hit fantastic form, bagging a hat-trick against West Brom. He looked incredibly lively in the game and will try and force his way into a regular role in the first team at Arsenal. However, if Arsene Wenger decides to splash the cash on Sterling, naturally Walcott would likely become surplus to requirements at the Emirates as they are very similar players – and don’t forget they still have Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain somewhere!
